On Friday, the Sejm supported the Senate's amendments to the act that introduces simplification and digitization of procedures for registering vehicles and acquiring driving licenses. The amendments of the upper house are of a technical nature and do not affect the essence of the act.

One MP voted for the rejection of the amendments, 439 were against and no one abstained. Now the bill will go to the president.

This is an amendment to the Road Traffic Law. The project on this matter was part of the deregulation package.

The amendments to the Act introduce provisions enabling the modernization of the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPiK) system, which serves, among others, to carry out processes related to vehicle registration and the broadly understood acquisition of driving licenses.

The new regulations are intended to contribute to reducing the burden imposed on citizens, eliminating the need for personal visits to offices and paper documents, as well as automating administrative procedures.

The Act assumes introducing e-services, expanding the scope of collected data and improving data exchange between various state registers.

The need to visit offices, obtain unnecessary certificates and evidence in paper form, as well as submit copies of documents whose data is already available in state records and registers is to be eliminated.

The Act also provides for the digitization of court procedures for recording data regarding judgments and decisions on driving bans, as well as for transmitting and updating this data in CEPiK using the IT system of the Ministry of Justice. (PAP)
