Nicusor Dan will consult Dominic Fritz about the nomination for the position of Minister of Defense

President Nicusor Dan says that he will discuss with USR leader Dominic Fritz, this very evening, on the plane, about the nomination for the Ministry of Defence, stating that the decision is the USR's and the prime minister's.

President Nicusor Dan declared in Paris that he will discuss with the USR leader, the mayor of Timisoara Dominic Fritz, who is in his delegation on an official visit to France, about the nomination of the Minister of Defense, after the resignation of Ionuţ Moşteanu.

“I will talk to Dominic Fritz this very evening, on the plane, and we will see. The decision is up to the USR and the Prime Minister, but obviously, if Mr. Fritz wants, we can have a discussion on the subject”the head of state showed, News writes.

The President of USR, Dominic Fritz, stated that he expects a new Minister of Defense to be appointed this year, after the resignation of Ionuţ Moşteanu, and stated that he will consult with President Nicusor Dan in this regard. Fritz believes that the Ministry of Defense must be led by politicians, “not by technocrats without political weight”.

Ionuţ Moşteanu announced his resignation from the position of Minister of Defense, at the end of November, amid the scandal caused by the contradictory information in his CV.

Until a new minister is appointed, the post was taken over by Radu Miruţă, the Minister of Economy.
