Fiat 126p / FSO 1500 – who can get a refund and how much is the prepayment compensation?

Fiat 126p for decades it was an inseparable element of the landscape of Polish streets. The prepayment system for passenger cars operated in Poland in the years 1982-1985. At that time, potential buyers had to pay money upfront and wait, sometimes for many years, for the vehicle to be produced. Many of them never saw the order fulfilled – a total of 342,000. people to whom the state has been paying compensation for years.

The Ministry of Finance has published new compensation rates for unused prepayments for Fiat 126p and Fiat 125 passenger cars (FSO 1500).

In the first quarter of 2026, compensation rates will amount to almost PLN 20,000. PLN for people who made advance payments for Fiat 126p, and approximately PLN 30,000. PLN for those who prepaid for FSO 1500. Despite this, according to the Ministry of Finance, the number of applications for payment of funds is marginal.
