Trump, disappointed that Zelenski did not read the peace proposal for Ukraine. “This suits Russia”

Donald Trump said Volodymyr Zelenskiy was “not ready” to endorse a US-drafted peace proposal to end the war between Russia and Ukraine at the end of three days of talks between Washington and Kiev in Florida. The American president criticized, on Sunday evening, his Ukrainian counterpart, reproaching him that “didn't read the proposal” American peace agreement for Ukraine, revealed three weeks ago and discussed separately with Moscow and Kiev, reports AFP.

“I've spoken with President Putin and the Ukrainian leadership – especially President Zelensky – and I have to say I'm a little disappointed that he hasn't read the American proposal yet“, said Trump, before attending an awards ceremony in Washington.

The White House leader added: “That suits Russia, which would rather have the whole country, but I'm not sure it suits Zelenski. Russia, I think, agrees with [acordul]but I'm not sure Zelensky agrees. His people appreciate him. But he is not ready.”

Since the presentation of the American plan, several rounds of talks have taken place in Geneva and Florida to adjust the text in favor of Kiev. The document was also presented to Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, during the visit of US emissaries Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow.

Few details have been made public about the revised version of the plan, after the first version was deemed largely favorable to Russia by Kiev and European states.
