Dominic Fritz considers Elena Lasconi's recent statements “unfortunate”. “It is possible that she wants to be excluded in order to keep her mandate”

The president of USR, Dominic Fritz, stated that the law does not allow Elena Lasconi, the former leader of the party and the mayor of Câmpulung Muscel, to leave USR alone and that she probably wants to be excluded in order to keep her mandate as mayor.

Dominic Fritz was asked, on Monday, in a press conference, if Lasconi still has a future in USR, in the context of the recent statements of the mayor of Câmpulung Muscel.

“As you know, the law does not allow Elena Lasconi to leave USR by herself. It is possible that she wants to be excluded in order to keep her mandate. I support Elena Lasconi as mayor. I think she is a good mayor for Câmpulung Muscel. I do not consider her recent statements about national politics in Romania very happy. I agree with her, yesterday (Sunday – no) was a good day for democracy because she did not no extremist won“, said Dominic Fritz, News writes.

Elena Lasconi wrote, on Sunday evening, on Facebook, after the announcement of the partial results that made liberal candidate Ciprian Ciucu the winner of the elections for the Capital City Hall, a short message of appreciation.

“A good day for democracy”was Elena Lasconi's message, accompanied by a photo in which she appears with Ciucu.

A day ago, Lasconi, qualified for the presidential final in 2024, noted, in a message sent one year after the cancellation of the election, that a year has passed since democracy in Romania received the heaviest blow in the last 36 years, emphasizing that “the system, desperate to hold on to power, destroyed democracy and sickened Romania”which every day is crushed by hatred, mistrust, division, misinformation, fear and dissatisfaction.
