“If we look at the way people voted and the small turnout from this vote, we can draw several conclusions,” the mayor of Sector 5, Vlad Popescu Piedone, said on Monday morning in a message addressed to the voters, but also to Ciprian Ciucu.

Vlad Popescu Piedone said, in a message posted on his Facebook page, that “although I remain of my opinion that Daniel Băluţă would have been an excellent general mayor”, “the vote of those who went out to vote is sovereign and must be respected”.

“The people decided differently and we must understand that this is the winning result. If we look at the way people voted and the low turnout from this vote, we can draw several conclusions. The residents of Sector 4 appreciate their mayor and acted accordingly! Daniel Băluţă received from them a reconfirmation that he is wanted and appreciated for his achievements so far. Daniel Băluţă did not lose, but rather gained more time for to continue the projects started in the south of the city”, continued Piedone.

He explained: “If we refer to the other sectors, it is clear that people were no longer interested in these elections. After so many financial blows from the Romanian Government, the elections were no longer a priority and we must learn from this.”

When the polls closed, almost 590,000 Bucharesters voted in the elections in Bucharest for the Capital City Hall, which means 32.71% of the total number of voters. It is the voting round for the General City Hall of the Municipality of Bucharest with the lowest turnout in the last decade.

The Mayor of Sector 5 congratulated Ciprian Ciolacu and issued his first official invitation to take Sector 5.

“Ciprian Ciucu, I congratulate you on the result you obtained in this election and allow me to address you the first official invitation to take Sector 5! Let's discuss the blocked projects! They are already on your future desk! We will talk about infrastructure, schools, kindergartens and more. Below are some of the priorities I want to discuss in order to unlock them: Calea Rahovei; Calea 13 September; Panduri Road. Although they are located in Sector 5, we have the necessary funds to lend a hand,” the Mayor said.

At the same time, he points out, the local administration is ready from 2023 to start the works at the “IG Duca” School.

“We are just waiting for the signature of the mayor general! The funds are there, we just need the will. Our children must learn in safe schools. We have the same situation at the Gheorghe Lazăr National College, one of the best school units in our country. We are just waiting for a signature! Ciprian Ciucu, we are waiting for you in Sector 5 to do administration, not politics!”, Vlad Popescu told Piedone.
