Social pensions in Russia will be indexed by 6.8% from April 1, State Duma deputy Alexey Govyrin (United Russia) told RIA Novosti.

“Social pensions and state security pensions will be indexed from April 1. It is expected that the increase will be 6.8 percent,” Govyrin said.

The deputy noted that social pensions are assigned to people with disabilities since childhood and to disabled children, and social old-age pensions are given to people who have not worked at all or have not been able to accumulate the length of service and coefficients required for an insurance pension.

“State pensions are awarded, for example, to those awarded the “Resident of Siege Leningrad” badge or to people who suffered from radiation disasters,” he added.
