The spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Monica Dajbog, announced that, until Sunday at 18:00, 61 notifications of possible electoral incidents were registered. Four fines were imposed for photographing the ballot, registering a person on additional lists and for the presence of another person in the voting booth. In addition, investigations are being carried out regarding 46 criminal acts, informs News.ro.

“From the beginning of the voting process until this moment, 61 notifications of possible electoral incidents were registered, but no special situations were reported from the point of view of the competences of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Four contraventional sanctions were applied for photographing the ballot, for registering a person on additional lists even though he had an established residence for less than six months, and for non-compliance with the provisions prohibiting the presence of another person in the voting booth At the same time, investigations are being carried out regarding 46 criminal acts”, said Monica Dajbog on Sunday evening.

Incidents in Bucharest wards

The spokesperson of the MAI gave some examples of notifications from the last few hours, two of which are from the Capital. Thus, the Bucharest police are investigating after a voter allegedly noticed that, at the time of applying the stamp on the ballot, the ink was also printed on the back, overlapping two candidates at the same time. In sector 5 of the Capital, the gendarme on guard duty at a polling station self-reported the recalcitrant behavior of a man, and during the preventive body control, an irritating tear gas spray was discovered on him. The man was taken to the police station to draw up the reporting documents.

In Mihai Eminescu commune, Botoşani county, the police were informed that a man had offered sums of money for a certain candidate to be voted. The investigations are continued for the crime of corruption of voters.

A representative of a political party notified the Police about the fact that several people were consuming alcoholic beverages in a store near a polling station in Buzău County. As a result of the checks, it was found that the people in the respective store were consuming alcohol-free beer and coffee.

Also in a commune from Buzău county, it was noticed that electoral materials are displayed near a polling station, and the president of the polling station ordered their removal.

Clarifications regarding electoral lists

And in the last few hours, there have been cases of citizens who came to the polls to vote in their place of residence, even though they had resided for less than 6 months, given that Law 115 of 2015 for the election of local public administration authorities provides that citizens who have established their residence less than 6 months before the election date will be able to exercise their right to vote only in the administrative-territorial unit in which they have residence, Dajbog stated.

She specified that five medical cases were registered, all in Bucharest, where five people fell or hit each other in or near polling stations, suffering minor injuries or dislocations. Four people were transported to the hospital.

“Regarding the information appearing in the public space regarding the fact that some permanent electoral lists include deceased persons, I specify that, according to the legislation in force, the General Directorate for the Registration of Persons transmits to the Permanent Electoral Authority the updates of the lists of persons with the right to vote for the generation of the Electoral Register, at the request of the AEP, 20 days before the voting round. Thus, the last set of data sent to the Permanent Electoral Authority was on 25 November 2025, containing the deaths registered in the National Register of Persons until November 22, 2025. Under these conditions, there may be specific situations that, in particular, concern deaths registered after November 22, 2025,” explained Monica Dajbog.

The spokesperson of the MAI added that it is important to mention that, even if there are people on the electoral lists who died after November 22, 2025, no one can vote on their behalf, because the identity of the voters is verified through the electronic system to prevent multiple voting and electoral fraud.

“The missions of the MAI employees continue in the following hours, including after the closing of the polling stations, when they will ensure the security of the documents resulting from the voting, during the transport by the presidents of the electoral offices of the voting stations to the hierarchically higher electoral offices”, said Monica Dajbog.
