Inter Miami prevailed in the MLS final, 3-1 against the Vancouver Whitecaps, and won the trophy for the first time in the club's history.

In their own stadium, Inter Miami made the law in the duel with Vancouver. He opened the scoring quickly, following Ocampo's own goal (8), and after Ali Ahmed equalized (60), he returned to the advantage on the table in the 71st minute, De Paul's goal, from Lionel Messi's pass. In overtime, Allende closed the accounts (90+6). Final score: 3-1.

Lionel Messi on his 47th trophy in 22 years of career

For Inter it is the first title in history, while for Messi it is already the 47th trophy in 22 years of professional career. After the final whistle, the Argentina captain was named MVP of the match and in his speech he also made sure to mention Jordi Alba and Sergi Busquets, for whom he was last appearance before hanging up the boots.

Leo Messi, the king of America:

“Last year we were eliminated at the beginning of the championship, in the first round. This year, winning the MLS Cup was one of our main goals. The team gave a great effort. It was a very long year with many games, and we lived up to expectations throughout the season.

This is the moment I've been waiting for and we as a team have been waiting for. It is something very special for everyone. The boys deserved it“, said the Argentine, then turning his attention to Alba and Busquets.

Lionel Messi: “Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets still don't realize”

“Considering what players they were — both among the greatest in history, each at their position, with the careers they've had and the titles they've won — it's great that they can retire with this MLS title. I think they're still not fully aware of what they're going through, what retirement means.

Today marks the end of something very beautiful for them, something to which they have dedicated their whole lives. Now another chapter begins for them. I wish them all the best, because they are two friends that I care about very much. I am happy that I can retire from football with this title”, Leo pointed out.

Inter Miami's co-owner, former England international David Beckham, characterized the season and the final as follows: “When you give the ball to Leo, you have chances. That's what we did. We knew we were going to be successful.”
