There is an internal conflict in PiS
Although the victory of the PiS candidate in the presidential elections could herald the consolidation of the party and preparations for the parliamentary elections in 2027, frictions are growing within the party.
The conflict is between the faction of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the so-called buttermakers – a group gathered around Przemysław Czarnek, Patryk Jaki, Jacek Sasin and Tobiasz Bocheński. The two camps differ in terms of program direction: Morawiecki's people want a shift towards the center, while the other faction expects a more visible turn to the right.
Voters expect a new face
Against this background, SW Research asked voters who should be the face of the party before the 2027 elections.
11.9 percent respondents chose Jarosław Kaczyńskia 10.7 percent Mateusz Morawiecki. Przemysław Czarnek won 8.4 percenta Mariusz Błaszczak — 6.4 percent
The biggest challenge for the party, however, is this 23.8 percent respondents expect “someone else”i.e. a new face from outside the front row. Until 38.8 percent answered “it's hard to say”, which further emphasizes the lack of a clear leader for the general public.
