A resident of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received a suspended sentence for illegal hunting of Red Book sturgeon

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a local resident was sentenced for illegal trafficking of sturgeon, the press service of the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office reported.

It was established that in the summer of 2025, a resident of the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets region illegally caught 4 Siberian sturgeon, which are listed in the Red Book, in the Yenisei with fishing gear.

“When transporting the caught fish on the motor ship “Valery Chkalov” for further sale to the population, law enforcement officers found the specified objects of the aquatic world among the man’s personal belongings, which were subsequently removed from illegal circulation. The damage to aquatic biological resources amounted to over 1.9 million rubles,” the supervisory agency clarified.

A criminal case was opened on this fact according to Part 1 of Art. 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal extraction, storage, transportation of especially valuable aquatic biological resources belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation). The Dudinsky District Court appointed the man 6 months suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 6 months, and also confiscated in state revenue motorwow boatfrom the culprit.

In addition, at the request of the Norilsk Transport Prosecutor, the court ordered the perpetrator to compensate the state for the damage caused and retained the seizure of his property until the execution of the verdict in part of the civil claim.
