Transfer of central defender Andre Duarte (28) to FCSB caused a huge scandal, and his former team, Ujpest, issued an extremely harsh statement announcing that they would take legal proceedings against the player, the Portuguese being accused of illegally terminating his contract.
Duarte left Ujpest unilaterally after having a conflict with the coaches and ended up in the club's second team, and a few days ago he was introduced to the Romanian champions. However, his problems with Ujpest are far from over, the situation is getting complicated for him now and he is even going to end up in court.
After leaving Ujpest, Duarte signed with FCSB as a free agent and will be able to play for the Romanian champions only from the next calendar year.
The communique issued by Ujpest, after Duarte's departure
A few days away from when Duarte was officially presented to the FCSB, the press release from Ujpest came, announcing that will seek compensation in court, as the Portuguese brought great financial damage to the club.
“In relation to the news published in the last few days, Ujpest FC confirms that Andre Duarte has terminated his contract with the club with immediate effect, and as a result of this, the employment relationships have been terminated.
The club always acted in accordance with the law throughout the employment relationship, within the contract signed by both parties, so the termination was illegal. After the illegal termination was announced, Ujpest FC immediately contacted the player to resolve the situation, but Andre Duarte distanced himself completely from the club.
The player has caused significant financial damage through the illegal actions detailed above and the club will immediately initiate the necessary legal proceedings to obtain compensation“, it is stated in the press release issued by the representatives of Ujpest, after the transfer of Andre Duarte to FCSB.

At FCSB, Duarte will have a monthly salary of 20,000 euros and will wear the number 3 shirt. He performed this season for the Hungarians from Ujpest, for whom he ticked off 11 matches and an assist. He also played for Alverca, Osijek and Estrela Amadora in his career. He has a market share worth one million euros, according to transfermarkt.com.
This is not the first time Duarte has clashed with a former team
It is not the first time that Andre Duarte is involved in such a situation. In July 2023, the Portuguese was reported missing by Adrian Mititelu.
The dispute was triggered by the fact that FCU Craiova claimed that Duarte had one year left on his contract, the player and his manager said that the deal expired on June 30, 2023.
