Fernando Torres (41), the current coach of the second team of Atlético Madrid, does not hide his desire to take over the technical management of the first team in the future.

The former Spanish international, with 110 national caps, has been working in the club's youth groups for 5 years and looks to the future with the ambition to climb to the position held by Diego Simeone for almost 14 years.

Fernando Torres wants to train at Atletico Madrid: “I'm not afraid of anything”

“I'm not afraid of anything. I've conquered everything as a footballer and now as a coach I want to try. I hope that one day I'll be chosen as a first-team coach if I continue to do my job well,” he declared, before stressing that he remains focused on the present.

“But at the moment my motivation and dream is to go to second team training tomorrow,” he added.

The former Atletico striker also shared some of his philosophy:

“I would like to be the coach I would have liked to have. A coach who listens, who learns from the players and from the different generations,” said the 41-year-old technician, before talking about the late Luis Aragonés, the coach who won Euro 2008 with Spain.

“With Luis Aragones, I understood a lot of things that he told me only four years later, when we met again at the national team. He talked to me about the press, about being a good teammate. Without realizing it, I think I was always ready for the spotlight,” he concluded.

This season, Atlético Madrid B is in first place in the 2nd group of the Spanish third division and has an important chance to promote to the Segunda.
