The Cameroon national team, where Devis Epassy, a licensed goalkeeper at Dinamo, is the main goal-scorer, was duly rewarded after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. The performance was obtained from the following 2-1 victory against South Africa, the national team for which Siyabonga Ngezana, the centre-back of the Super League champions FCSB, plays.

Each player in the squad will receive an individual prize of 18,180,000 CFA francs, the equivalent of just over 27,700 euros, an amount that approaches the threshold of 30,000 euros.

The first, granted by the Cameroonian state

The bonuses were approved by Cameroon's president, Paul Biya (92), through the Ministry of Sports, led by Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, as “a gesture of gratitude but also of additional motivation” for the players.

Congratulations to the team after their victory over Bafana Bafana, which secured their place in the quarter-finals. In appreciation and for additional motivation, on behalf of the state and the ministry, prizes worth 18,180,000 CFA francs were awarded to each player. Long live the victorious Cameroon!

– Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said, quoted by Radio Monte Carlo.

Cameroon, face to face with Morocco

In the next phase of the competition, Cameroon will face Morocco, the semi-finalist of the 2022 World Cup, the host country of the Africa Cup of Nations and the number 1 favorite to win the trophy.

Coach David Pagou, appointed in early December after the sacking of Marc Brys, stressed the importance of team spirit: “Our star is the collective.”

Pagou replaced Brys after his conflict with Cameroon Football Federation president Samuel Eto'o.
