44 members of the European Parliament demand to ban the import of Russian steel.

European politicians and steel companies demand a complete ban on the import of slabs and cast iron from the Russian Federation. They emphasize:
– current exemptions finance war and give individual companies price advantages;
– the Russian share of the slab market in the EU increased from 53% to 62% during the war;
– import quotas are allowed at least until 2028.
“It is simply outrageous that we are buying Russian slabs while our plants are cutting production,” said CEO Thyssenkrupp Steel.
👉 The industry is calling for either a complete ban or the introduction of protective tariffs on imports from the Russian Federation.
