Two swindlers who pretended to be “gas employees” were arrested after stealing tens of thousands of lei from an old woman's house

Two men, one from Bucharest, the other from Reşita, were pre-arrested after, pretending to be employees of a natural gas company, they entered the home of an elderly woman from Braşov, where they stole tens of thousands of lei.

The investigation in this case, carried out by the Brasov police, started after, at the beginning of November, a 98-year-old woman complained to the police that two men stole money from her house, News writes.
“He reported to the police that, on November 11 this year, unknown persons showed up at his home address, and under the pretext of carrying out specific checks on the gas installation, they allegedly took advantage of his inattention and stole the sum of 35,000 lei and 1,200 euros, which he had stored in a cupboard. Based on what was found, the police carried out checks and investigations complex, which led to the identification of the suspected persons of committing the act, being a 44-year-old man from the municipality of Bucharest and another, 40 years old, from the municipality of Reşita, Caraş-Severin county”Brasov Police officials stated on Sunday.
On Saturday, November 29, the policemen from the Brasov Municipal Police – Criminal Investigation Bureau, made two house searches, after which they discovered and seized several goods, and a vehicle that the investigated persons would have used in the criminal activity was also seized.
The two were detained for a period of 24 hours, on Sunday, November 30, preventive arrest warrants were issued in their names.
