“I would like to remind you that in accordance with the spirit of the 1997 Constitution, the presidential veto was intended to protect the rule of law and not to be an instrument of fight against the government.. In my opinion, it is too strong and leads to paralysis of the state,” Sikorski wrote on X.

Another entry regarding the separation of powers was posted earlier on Sunday by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. “In accordance with the Constitution, the government conducts foreign policy. The President is obliged to cooperate with the government and represent Poland with dignity.. Let us all stick to this rule always. This is better for Poland,” we read on X.

Last Thursday, President Karol Nawrocki announced his veto of two acts: an amendment to the Electoral Code and an amendment to the act on taxation of family foundations. Karol Nawrocki announced their veto on platform In the recording attached to the entry, he emphasized that three times, along with using the veto, he simultaneously presented his own projects of changes “to show that the presidential veto is not a tool of destruction, but an element of responsible cooperation.”

On Thursday, President Nawrocki also asked the government and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to consult draft laws “at an early stage of work”. – Such action would improve the legislative process, reduce the need to veto defective laws, and, above all, serve citizens – emphasized the president. He added that “the voices of Poles and experts indicate that they expect such cooperation from the president and the government.” (PAP)
