On average, the closest electric car charging stations in Poland are only 2,152 m apart – according to the Powerdot Data Center analysis. Over the course of 16 months, this distance decreased by over 1 km, i.e. by as much as 34%. , which made traveling around Poland by electric car much easier.

Public devices belonging to various operators and located throughout Poland were taken into account. Closely adjacent infrastructure (e.g. points located in the same shopping mall, no more than 25 m apart) were treated as one facility. Estimates were made separately for all stations and separately for devices with a power of at least 50 kW.

There are as many as 31.1 km of roads (motorways, national and provincial roads) per DC fast charging point in Poland, which is ten times worse than in Portugal (3.1 km/DC) and over six times worse than in Germany (5.0 km/DC). The difference in the total number of charging points is even more visible – there are 12.6 km of roads per charging point (CP) in Poland, while in Portugal it is only 0.9 km, in Germany 1.2 km and in France 2.2 km.

The study was conducted in November this year. It covered 5.5 thousand. locations where there were 14 thousand charging points. The source of knowledge about the number of points, their power and geographical location is Eco Movement, a leading European supplier of data on charging infrastructure for electric cars, used by, among others, Google, as well as the largest station operators.

— In Poland, we are still fighting the stereotype of insufficiently developed infrastructure. Meanwhile, the facts, i.e. both the number of charging points and the distances between stations, indicate exactly the opposite. Poland has become a country that has infrastructure adequate to a fleet of electric vehiclesand even generated a certain surplus of charging points. Even in 2025, which is a period of dynamic growth in electric car sales, existing and newly built stations were able to meet the needs of the growing number of electric drivers. The situation has improved in voivodeships with relatively less developed infrastructure: Podlaskie, Lublin and Warmian-Masurian. The construction of stations at MOPs has also started, which has so far been an unattractive place for investors, says Grigoriy Grigoriev, general director of Powerdot in Poland.

Over a kilometer less to the nearest station
As a result of the completed construction works, the average distance between stations, calculated on the basis of the distance separating a given facility from its nearest neighbor, decreased by almost a kilometer within 16 months, by 1,111 m to be precise, i.e. by as much as 34%. According to the latest estimates, the average distance between stations defined in this way is 2152 m, and according to Google, covering it takes an average of 4 minutes. Last July the average distance was 3,263 meters. It is also worth emphasizing that for 75 percent infrastructure, the average distance of the closest neighboring stations is only 1.6 km.
Infrastructure for charging electric cars is becoming more and more available

— Over the last 12 months, the number of charging points built in Poland has increased by over 40%. However, the still high annual investment rate is not the only reason for satisfaction. Many construction projects were supposed to be completed by the end of 2024, but were postponed until this year. The reason is delays in the construction of connections by energy companies, says Grigoriy Grigoriev. Let us recall that many investments in Poland began due to a legislative impulse – from the beginning of 2025, existing public facilities, i.e. shops, shopping malls, hospitals and sports facilities, with at least 10 parking spaces, should enable charging of electric cars.
3.3 km to the nearest fast station
Powerdot Data Center experts also checked the average distance between the closest neighboring fast charging stations, with a power of 50 kW or more. According to the latest calculations, it is less than 3.5 km, or exactly 3,344 m. This distance has decreased by 2.8 km, or 46%, compared to the previous study.
— These distances are so small that we give them in meters, not kilometers. Not only AC points, but also high-power DC ones, enabling full charging of medium-sized batteries in several dozen minutes, and recharging in a few or a dozen or so minutes, they are really densely distributed and available even in very small towns – informs Grigoriy Grigoriev.
The furthest in the Bieszczady Mountains
According to the latest calculations, the most isolated station on the map of Poland is the device located next to the Carpatia hotel in Smerek in the Bieszczady Mountains (two AC connectors). It is 55 km away from its nearest neighbor, located on the premises of the Ursa Maior brewery in Uherce Mineralne, which is about an hour's drive. Even a car with a small battery can cover this distance. For example, the Fiat e500, with a battery with an actual capacity of approximately 21 kWh, has an average range of 135 km, according to the EV Database.
As for the most isolated fast charging station, it is the device located in the Lidl parking lot in Włodawa, at ul. Chełmska. in the Lublin Voivodeship (60 kW). Its closest neighbor is the Powerdot “charger” located in the Biedronka parking lot in Chełm, at ul. Rejowiecka (120 kW). The devices are 50 km apart and the estimated travel time is approximately 45 minutes.
