Step by step, from exercise to exercise, we are strengthening the country's defense and resilience Kristersson said.

As reported, the exercises were held on the initiative of the government, and their scenario assumed “serious changes in security policy in Sweden and the immediate neighborhood.” “The aim was to discuss what would be necessary to maintain state security in a fictional situation, as well as to tighten cooperation between various entities,” it was explained.

In addition to the ministers and representatives of the Swedish armed forces, the meeting participants included: King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, heir to the throne Princess Victoria, as well as some parliamentarians. Representatives of the Office of Civil Protection and Preparedness, as well as other state agencies, were also invited.

The press service of the Riksdag (parliament) also reported about the exercises. The statement said they were attended by the president of the chamber, Andreas Norlen, and 50 members of the war delegation whose task is to continue work in the event of war or crisis. – It is important that our central democratic processes continue to function even in difficult situations, stressed Norlen. The Riksdag has 349 members.
