The Prahova County Council, the main shareholder of the water supplier, claims that the problem is not with the Hidro Prahova supplier, which only transports the water, but with the Paltinu dam, where the installations entered a technical blockage due to turbidity, according to News.ro.

The supply of drinking water is completely stopped in the localities of Câmpina, Breaza, Băicoi, Adunati, Poiana Câmpina, Şotrile, Băneşti, Brebu, Telega, Vărbilău, Aluniş and partially in the Floreşti commune of Prahova county, the situation being classified as “critical” with a direct impact on tens of thousands of people.

The Prahova County Council, which is the main shareholder of the water supplier Hidro Prahova, announces that the water supplier is not responsible for this situation.

“The problem does not come from Hidro Prahova. The company does not produce or treat water, but only transports what it receives from the collection and treatment system. At the moment, the production is stopped at the source, which is why there is no water to transport to consumers. The blockages belong exclusively to the institutions that manage the Paltinu dam, the catchment and the Voila Treatment Station”, informed the Prahova County Council on Saturday.

“The rains of the last few days generated a high level of alluvium, the turbidity exceeded the permitted limits, and the installations entered a technical blockage. These conditions make it impossible to treat the water to the parameters required by OG No. 7/2023 regarding the quality of water intended for human consumption”, the quoted source added.

The institution requests “rapid and coordinated intervention from the responsible structures, to restart the capture process in the shortest possible time, even at a minimum flow, so that the Voila Station can resume operation”.

The water supplier Hidro Prahova is ready to distribute water as soon as production resumes, the Prahova County Council also reported. “Until then, the responsibility for remedying the situation rests entirely with the institutions that manage the water resource, the dam and the treatment,” the institution also specified.
