Orthodox Krasnoyarsk residents were reminded of restrictions during the Nativity Fast

29 November 13:10

On November 28, Orthodox Christians began a 40-day Nativity Fast, which will last until the celebration of the Nativity of Christ.

During the fasting period, food of animal origin is excluded from the diet; fish is allowed only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. On Wednesdays and Fridays, the consumption of sunflower oil is prohibited, writes the Saratov 24 TV channel.

The clergy emphasize that fasting is not a diet, but a time of spiritual cleansing. Without prayer and participation in worship, fasting does not bring spiritual benefit.

Sick people, pregnant women, elderly people, military personnel and travelers are exempt from strict rules. Children are usually limited in sweets and the time they use gadgets. The main purpose of fasting is to perform good deeds, help others and spiritual improvement.
