The Ministry of Agriculture is introducing new rules for labeling fruit and vegetables

Further changes will apply to honey, juices and jams, the new labeling rules of which will enter into force on June 14, 2026.
The regulations aim to make it easier for consumers to identify the origin of food products. The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that products introduced to the market before the date of entry into force of the new regulations may be sold while stocks last. The announcement noted that “the purpose of the changes is greater transparency of information for consumers.”
Markings from February 17
According to the new requirements, from February 17, 2026, loose fruit and vegetables sold will have to be marked with the flag of the country they come from. In the case of honey, labels are to indicate the countries of origin in descending order, taking into account the percentage of honey from a given country.
The rules regarding jams will also change – the obligation to inform about the sugar content in products such as marmalades and jellies will be abolished.
The changes result from EU law
The amendment to the regulations also introduces a new category of fruit juices with a reduced content of naturally occurring sugars. All changes result from the implementation of European Union directives and are included in the regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which regulate the labeling and commercial quality of food products.
The new regulations include, among others: regulation on the labeling of foodstuffs, as well as detailed quality requirements for jams, preserves, marmalades, plum jams and fruit juices and nectars.
