That is, if there is a person who is most dangerous to society and if it is impossible to isolate him in any way, he must be removed. The Lord does not say: “kill him,” but “take away the evil from you, Samech.”
The Patriarch also said that Jesus Christ did not condemn the execution. And when he himself was illegally executed, the apostles did not talk about the inadmissibility of punishment through the termination of life.
According to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, “it is ideal that there would be no reason for the death penalty, but the Church has never insisted that this punishment should be abolished.” At the same time, the confessor noted that he himself supports the moratorium.
