This is the result of Tuesday's decision of the Warsaw district court, which sentenced Kwiatkowski to 8 months of suspended imprisonment and a 6-month suspended prison sentence to the former head of the PSL club, Jan Bury, in a case regarding filling positions at the Supreme Audit Office.

– Senator Kwiatkowski issued a statement in which he presents his position and says that he will continue to fight in the second instance, but he asked to be suspended from the club and the Civic Coalition club suspended Senator Kwiatkowski as a member – Łoboda said on TOK FM radio on Wednesday.

To the comment that a second-instance judgment might not be issued within three months, she replied that “we will see how the case will develop.” She also noted that “the senator clearly assures his innocence.” At the same time, she emphasized that under the law, the judgment is invalidso the senator is innocent.

– I understand that out of decency, because he is a very good and decent man, he decided not to burden the club with this story, but he will continue to demand justice in court – said Łoboda.

Tuesday's decision of the Warsaw court is the illegitimate finale of the trial, ongoing since 2018, regarding allegations of abuse of power when filling positions at the Supreme Audit Office in 2013.

The indictment in this case was filed by the prosecutor's office in August 2017. Kwiatkowski was charged with four crimes, including: abuse of power in connection with competition proceedings for the positions of director of the Supreme Audit Office's branch office in Łódź, deputy director of the branch office in Rzeszów and deputy director of the Chamber's environment department. Bury, on the other hand, became, among others, accused of inciting abuse of power during competitions for the positions of director of the Supreme Audit Office's branch office in Rzeszów and his deputy.

The court acquitted Kwiatkowski of one of the four charges, and acquitted Bury of one of the three charges. Both were present in court on Tuesday – they agreed to give their names.

Immediately after leaving the courtroom, Kwiatkowski announced in a conversation with journalists that he would file an appeal. He referred to the issue of evidence and assessed that “the entire proceedings were based on recordings cut to suit a preconceived thesis.” – We still do not have the originals of these recordings – he noted. The indictment included materials from the operational inspection, i.e. recordings of telephone conversations recorded during the operational inspection. In his position submitted to PAP on Tuesday, Kwiatkowski stated that the court made a decision without evidence. (PAP)
