In Krasnoyarsk, two men, 25 and 37 years old, will go to trial for defrauding an elderly woman out of money. The regional prosecutor's office spoke about this.
According to the supervisory authority, in May 2025, installers of PVC windows, who were not officially employed, joined an organized criminal group. They were entrusted with the role of couriers – receiving money from senior citizens and transferring it to a third party for a certain percentage.
An elderly resident of Krasnoyarsk became a victim of deception: the attackers, posing as employees of the FSB, Rosfinmonitoring and Roskomnadzor, threatened her with criminal prosecution for allegedly undeclared money and aiding terrorism.
“Through telephone calls and video calls, under the pretext of ensuring the safety of her funds, the woman was convinced to transfer her savings to a courier. The pensioner gave cash in foreign currency in the amount of 900 thousand rubles to the courier, who, by prior agreement, confirmed his identity with the code word “Baikonur,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The courier received the money, gave it to an accomplice, who then transferred the funds to a crypto wallet controlled by another member of the group. For this they received 30 thousand rubles. Despite the full admission of guilt and repentance, the accused have so far only partially compensated the damage – 5 thousand rubles.
The accomplices said that they acted under pressure from their curator. The prosecutor confirmed the charge of fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Each faces up to 10 years in prison.
The criminal case will be considered by the Sverdlovsk District Court of Krasnoyarsk.
