A quarter of Russians admitted that they have no savings

About a quarter of Russians surveyed said they do not save and do not have any savings, the VTsIOM think tank reported. 50% of respondents said that they have savings and replenish them with varying regularity.
As Kommersant writes, half of those who save put money aside for a rainy day or in reserve. 35% save for vacation, 29% for apartment renovation. The answers vary greatly depending on the age of the respondents.

For example, among representatives of the generation of figures (born 2001 and later) 17% save for repairs, among the generation of stagnation (born 1948–1967) – already 36%.
Answering a question from VTsIOM about the savings instruments they use, the majority (53%) of respondents answered that they store money in savings accounts. 45% prefer ruble deposits (bank deposits), 16% use cash to store money. Only 2% prefer cryptocurrency.
“Almost three-quarters are saving or already have savings, but not everyone manages to save regularly for one reason or another,” Dmitry Markov, a lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, comments on the study.
