Ukraine has successfully tested a new land-based drone capable of autonomous combat missions

The Ukrainian company “Ukrainian Armor” has announced that it has successfully tested the Protector unmanned ground system. The system has the ability to carry out combat missions from a distance, while the operators remain in a safe location in the most dangerous sectors of the front, Euromaidan Press reports.

The system is equipped with the Tavriia‑12.7 integrated combat module, operated remotely. It is a remote-controlled turret armed with a 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun and equipped with a digital fire control system.

Accurate fire even on the move

According to the company, the tests included shooting at different distances and in different ways.

“We achieved good results during both static firing and moving firing from different distances,” said Vladislav Belbas, executive director of the Ukrainian Armor company.

The system is designed for surveillance, detection and engagement of ground targets – armored vehicles, personnel and transport – as well as aerial targets, including helicopters and drones.

The company director points out that the integration of the remotely operated combat module turns the ground platform into an independent combat unit.

“The main task of the UGS Protector drone with the Tavriia module is to protect the lives of our soldiers as much as possible,” explained Belbas.

Earlier, the DevDroid company revealed that its Droid TW 12.7 unmanned ground system replaced an infantry position and held it for a month and a half.

The Russian forces were unable to break through the defensive line as they were continuously under fire.
