The Bistrita Court decided, on Tuesday evening, to place the mayor of the Livezile commune, Traian Simionca, under house arrest for 30 days, according to the solution published on the court portal. The mayor was detained yesterday, three weeks after the appearance in the public space of some images in which he appeared in intimate poses with an employee, in his office in the town hall. Also, the judge ordered that, during house arrest, the defendant must permanently wear an electronic surveillance device.

The court rejected the proposal to take the preventive arrest measure formulated by the prosecutors.

“Rejects as unfounded the proposal made by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bistrita Court, to take the preventive measure of preventive arrest against the defendant ST Based on article 227 paragraph 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, article 218 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and article 221 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, orders the preventive measure of house arrest to be taken (…), for a period of 30 days, starting from the date of 25.11.2025 and up to 24.12.2025, inclusive”, says the solution communicated by the Bistrita Court, according to Agerpres.

The decision can be appealed within 48 hours from the judgment with the defendant and from communication with the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bistrita Court.

Traian Simionca, 56 years old, was detained, on Monday, for 24 hours, following the searches carried out by the police at the headquarters of the Livezile commune's Town Hall and at the homes of some individuals.

The police from Bistrita Năsăud announced on November 5 that they are investigating the commission of crimes of sexual assault, outrage against good morals and violation of private life, following the appearance of images in which the mayor of Livezile commune, Traian Simionca, appears in intimate poses with an employee, in his office.

A day ago, the authorities announced that the mayor is also being investigated for rape.

“Investigations are being continued under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bistrita Court in terms of committing the crimes of sexual assault, outrage against good morals, violation of privacy and rape. We specify that the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence,” the County Police Inspectorate reported, according to infobistrița.ro.

The images taken in the mayor's office went viral on social networks, after, according to the local publication Bistrițeanul, the mayor posted them on WhatsApp with the text “love match”. Later, Simioanca said that the photos were rigged.

“Most likely it is someone who either wanted to play a prank on me or wanted to denigrate me using artificial intelligence and taking fake pictures. I have contacted a lawyer who will undertake all legal steps to find the culprit and who will pay according to the law! I am a man who knows how to joke, but everything has a limit in this life! The culprit will pay dearly!”, said, on Wednesday, after the appearance of the pictures, the mayor of Livezile commune.
