Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall, said on B1 TV on Tuesday that he proposed organizing a debate between the first five electoral competitors in the polls, but Anca Alexandrescu, the candidate supported by AUR, “declined”, and Daniel Băluță from the PSD “will avoid these debates”.

The Liberal believes that the first five candidates in the polls “are the ones who can influence the final result of the elections”.

“Daniel Băluță, Anca Alexandrescu, Cătălin Drulua, Ana Ciceăla are the candidates with whom it would seem normal to have a debate. Mrs. Alexandrescu declined, so Mr. Vlad Gheorghe could take her place, from my point of view, in such a debate. Mr. Băluță, as far as I understand, through the contacts we have, my team has with various television stations that wanted such a debate, will avoid these debates”, declared Ciprian Ciucu.

The PNL candidate believes that a debate between him, Cătălin Drula and Ana Ciceăla would target “the same electorate”.

“I mean a debate in which we cannibalize ourselves, somehow, because from such a debate it is unlikely that anyone will come out well, because hard words are said in such debates, and it remains for me to make a decision that I will announce soon,” he continued.

Ciprian Ciucu's condition for Cătălin Drula

The liberal said that the decision to participate or not in the debates represents an “important aspect in the economy of the campaign, given that two main actors refuse, Daniel Băluță and Anca Alexandrescu”.

“In this context, I think it would be good to determine what the conditions of this debate would be, because it needs some conditions of existence. For example, I find it difficult to engage in a debate with Mr. Drula, not because we could not debate properly, but Mr. Drula already offended me in this election campaign (…). He offended me, gave me a nickname, said something like that I'm a pig, or something like this kind”, stated Ciprian Ciucu.

He claimed he “may consider a debate” if his USR opponent “can apologize honestly, not like that, coolly”.

“We can have some debates, but not under such conditions, because I no longer recognize Cătălin Drula. I knew him differently, a well-bred guy, with whom you can dialogue on arguments and who does not end up with such invectives, from my point of view. It seems to me that he is no longer Cătălin Drula, as if it is the PSD consultants who got him into the team,” the PNL candidate also declared.
