The Krasnoyarsk Roads and Improvement Department told how sidewalks are cleared of snow and ice during the off-season and the difficulties of this process. Experts say: withThe fastest thing that can be done is to treat pedestrian areas with sand. But this method is not always effective, since the sand is quickly blown away by the wind and remains slippery.
“Therefore, the problem must be solved more radically – sweeping the sidewalks, or removing the ice manually using a crowbar and shovels. This is a long and energy-consuming process; large areas cannot be removed at such a pace. There is also one caveat – a crowbar will not cope with a thin film of ice. But we don’t give up, and we do it on the sidewalks so that it’s not slippery,” said the UDIB, adding that there is a lot of work throughout the city, so crews move from one site to another.
Today, 218 workers are involved in sidewalk cleaning. Particular attention is paid to stops, approaches to crossings and socially significant objects.
With the help of specialized equipment, it is planned to clean sidewalks on the streets of Semafornaya, Sudostroitelnaya, Sverdlovskaya, Krainaya, 60 let Oktyabrya, Shchorsa, Michurin, Maerchak, Aviatorov, Molokov and many others.
“We understand that the current weather conditions are creating difficulties on the city streets. Fluctuating temperatures and icy conditions are making sidewalks difficult to navigate, and we hear your concerns. We would like to assure you that specialists try to respond promptly to every request and include problematic addresses in the work plan. “We work every day to ensure the safety of pedestrians,” the UDBI assured. “We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Your safety is our priority! Let's together make our city more comfortable for movement in winter. If you notice problem areas, let us know – we are ready to respond!”
