Baikitenergo executives were suspected of abuse of power (video)

In Baikit, Krasnoyarsk Territory, a criminal case has been opened regarding abuse of official powers by the heads of a municipal enterprise. This was reported to the regional prosecutor's office.

In March 2023, a tragedy occurred in the garage of the Baikitenergo MP, which provides heat and electricity services to the local population. The vulnerable organization of labor protection at the enterprise led to the death of the driver of the motor transport workshop. While the driver was performing his duties, part of the wheel came off and hit him on the head. The man died from his injuries. In connection with this, a criminal case was opened for violation of labor protection requirements, which resulted in the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

However, instead of allocating funding to eliminate safety violations at work, the company's management decided to provide financial support to the guilty employee, whose irresponsibility cost the life of his colleague.

“By a written agreement, they hired a third-party lawyer for 600 thousand rubles to provide legal assistance to the offender during the investigation of a criminal case against him,” explained the press service of the supervisory agency.

Such expenses contradict the charter and economic interests of the enterprise. The actions of the director and his deputy fell under the article on abuse of power committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (subparagraphs “g”, “f”, part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The prosecutor's office has taken control of the investigation, and the defendants face up to 10 years in prison.
