On the eve of the New Year holidays, raids are being held in the Krasnoyarsk Territory to protect coniferous forests, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said.

60 patrol groups are on duty in the territories every day. Inspectors reach remote and hard-to-reach areas on snowmobiles and swamp vehicles. The situation in the forests of the region is also monitored using drones.

And on the highway between populated areas, traffic police officers check the documents of everyone transporting New Year trees.

Christmas tree markets in the region's municipalities will open in mid-December. Forestry inspectors and police officers will check sellers' permits for harvesting and selling New Year's trees.

Residents are reminded that according to the law, only winners of open auctions and tenants of forest plots can harvest young coniferous trees. Those who do not have permits face a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, as well as imprisonment for up to 7 years.

Facts of illegal logging of coniferous trees can be reported by calling the forest guard hotline 8-800-100-94-00 or the police.
