Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump's project to settle the conflict with Ukraine may become a good basis for further talks.

– We remain fully open to the negotiation process. We are interested in achieving our goals through political and diplomatic means, Peskov said in a conversation with journalists, quoted by Reuters. He added that Trump's project was also positively assessed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The Kremlin spokesman also stated that direct talks in Istanbul had been interrupted by Kiev. – But now the situation is developing slightly differently. Talks are ongoing between Ukrainians and Americans (…), we will see how this will develop further, Peskov said.
Moreover, according to the Kremlin representative, it is impossible to talk about security guarantees and the security system without the participation of European countries and at some stage it will be necessary to include them in the talks.
Ukrainian-American talks on Trump's peace proposal were held on Sunday in Geneva. According to representatives of the Ukrainian side, most of the issues important for Ukraine have been taken into account at the current stage of the talks. (PAP)
