The expert pointed out Ukraine's biggest problem. “Maybe I shouldn't say that on TV.”

The 28-point plan of the Donald Trump administration aroused huge controversy and was considered by experts to be extremely unfavorable for Ukraine. Over the weekend, European leaders debated the project and prepared a counterproposal. The Ukrainians and the White House also issued a joint statement on peace negotiations. “Discussions were constructive, focused and respectful, underscoring our shared commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace,” the statement said. Everything is happening at a time when the country is being shaken by the biggest corruption scandal in years.

What do representatives of Ukraine and the White House say about the peace negotiations?

Who is the suspect in the corruption scandal in Ukraine?

The expert pointed out Ukraine's biggest problem. “Maybe I shouldn't talk on the show”

Recent events around Ukraine were commented on TVN24 by prof. Katarzyna Pisarska. The international affairs expert drew attention to Kiev's problems: a difficult location on the front where the Russians regained the initiative, mobilization difficulties, and the rapid adaptation of the Russians to new combat techniques and the reduction of Ukraine's advantages, e.g. in the area of drone combat.

— But all this wouldn't be the worst. The biggest problem today is the corruption scandal that shocked Kiev, in which President Zelensky's inner circle is involved. It seems that the arrangement in which Zelensky has been working for three years will have to change and settlements will be needed. The Ukrainian opposition is shouting very clearly: a unity government must be created, she said in “Fakty po Faktach”.

– I'll say it, even though maybe I shouldn't say it on TV. I have some concerns that President Zelensky is under such internal pressure that he will sometimes make decisions that are not the decisions of a statesman, but of a politician who is trying to save his surroundings. And this would be the first time during the three-and-a-half-year conflict, said Prof. Pisarska.

Asked whether Volodymyr Zelensky would be willing to accept bad American proposals to save his colleagues, she said: — That's what I'm afraid of. Marco Rubio stated that Rustem Umerow [sekretarz ukraińskiej Rady Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego i Obrony] agreed to the so-called amnesty on both sides. I don't know if it's true, that's what he said. This amnesty not only covers issues related to war crimes, but also any crimes that occurred during the war. This worries me. I must say that this is something I haven't seen in three and a half years.

Recall that the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) recently announced that the scandal concerns the domestic energy sector. Suspects there are seven people and five have been detained. NABU also reported that it documented how members of a criminal organization transferred money to former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov. Suspicious businessmen include: Tymur Mindicz, who left Ukraine a few hours before the searches. He is a close associate of the President of Ukraine.
