CSAT members will also analyze the projects that Romania intends to submit to the European Commission within the SAFE Program.
During the CSAT, the anticipated risks, threats and vulnerabilities for 2026 will be discussed, as well as the conclusions of Romania's participation in the NATO crisis management exercise “CMX-25”.
In a recent statement, President Nicușor Dan reminded that the National Defense Strategy and the SAFE project proposal are on the agenda of the meeting, stating that some of the topics discussed are of a strictly military nature, considering the current security context.
The Presidential Administration announced that the meeting includes: the analysis of the National Defense Strategy for the period 2025-2030, the strategic evaluation of defense and a report on the actions carried out in the first seven months of 2025 to combat drug trafficking and consumption, considered risks to national security.
The National Defense Strategy, published on Wednesday by the Cotroceni Palace, highlights that Romania, although it is still adjusting its institutions to the new economic and social realities, is “on the threshold of full national and state maturity”, prepared to solve its vulnerabilities and capitalize on the historical and natural opportunities available to it.
President Nicusor Dan specified, in a press conference, that the document introduces the concept of “solidarity independence”intended to ensure a stronger strategic positioning of Romania in the region and within international alliances. After the approval in the CSAT, the Defense Strategy will be presented next week in the Parliament.
