The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, said on Saturday, in Timişoara, that there will be a reclassification of hospitals, which involves a resettlement of the services that health units can offer to patients, but this does not mean that medical units will be closed, informs Agerpres.
“Not all hospitals have to offer all types of services. With this Soviet thinking, we have now reached the situation where we have a lot of health units that cannot cover their guards, that do not have all the specialties, that do not actually offer services to patients, and this is a reason discussed for years for dissatisfaction on the part of patients. Basically, we have not succeeded in the last ten years, in certain areas, to increase people's access to health services”, argued Minister Alexandru Rogobete.
According to him, currently in Romania there are eight categories of public hospitals, and each has a different tariff plan and its own rules.
“No one understands anything that happens there anymore. The basic idea is a simple one, to simplify things as much as possible. We will have hospitals of strategic importance, that is, those hospitals that have the necessary infrastructure to be able to respond to a catastrophe, for example, to be able to expand the capacity of the ATI, the capacity of the operating room, the capacity of intervention in case we encounter multiple victims. They are those hospitals that can offer all types of emergency medical services”, explained Minister Rogobete.

He also emphasized that the reclassification of hospitals does not mean their closure.
“The reclassification of hospitals means that out of eight categories of hospitals we will have only four, and all of them will be reclassified, remonitored and placed where they belong depending on the infrastructure, the ability to provide services and, very importantly, their desire to develop their specialized ambulatory area, which is absolutely necessary”, Minister Rogobete also mentioned.
On Saturday, the Minister of Health paid a visit to the construction site of the Center for Serious Burns in Timişoara. He was accompanied by the vice-president for Europe and Central Asia of the World Bank, Antonella Bassani, the president of the Timiş County Council, Alfred Simonis, and the manager of the Timişoara Emergency Clinical County Hospital, Dorel Săndesc.
