Mihai Rotaru, patron of Craiova University, vehemently criticized “Novak's Law“, which will come into force starting from the next season.

  • Specifically, it was approved that the Order of the Minister of Sports 500/2022, issued by Eduard Novak, which stipulated the obligation to use 40% Romanian athletes by Romanian clubs, in all sports, at matches organized in the country, to become an integral part of the law. And from next season, all clubs must apply this rule.

Mihai Rotaru vehemently criticized the “Novak Law”: “A great stupidity!”

Following the away victory with FC Argeș, score 2-1, right at the debut of Filipe Coelho on the technical bench, Mihai Rotaru had a telephone intervention in which he spoke about several topics, including the “Novak Law”, which he considers harmful.

A great stupidity. We are commercial companies, our main goal is to pursue profit. We are active in sports, but let us fight with the same weapons! Don't come to impose on me, to fence me in.

They assimilate the football teams, the clubs, with those of the town halls. But for us, who play in Europe, no one tells us how to build our teams. If the politician came to tell us what the structure of the football teams is, we have a problem.

I am convinced that it will be re-examined and society must sound the alarm. I don't think it will be applied, let's not forget that more than 20 years have passed since the EU turned FIFA on its head vis-à-vis the right to work. This law has no way of being applicable in Romania!“, declared Mihai Rotaru, at Prima Sport.

Throughout this season, the University of Craiova relied on many foreigners. The Ukrainian Pavlo Isenko became the starter in Olten's goal, and the pillar of the defense is represented by another Ukrainian, Oleksandr Romanchuk.

Also, apart from Ștefan Baiaram and Mihnea Rădulescu, the offense is represented by several foreign players, such as Assad Al Hamlawi, Etim, Carlos Mora, or Steven Nsimba.
