At the same time, Axios' statement on Friday emphasized that American proposals provide for providing Ukraine with security guarantees similar to those applicable to NATO members. They would provide Kyiv with protection in the event of new acts of aggression, although the details of the mechanisms for implementing these guarantees remain the subject of further negotiations.

Ukraine firmly rejects some of the proposals
Ukraine's representative to the UN, Chrystyna Hajowyshin, stated during the UN Security Council meeting that Kiev will not recognize its territories as Russian and will not agree to limit its right to self-defense. Moreover, Ukraine will not accept any restrictions on the choice of allies, including decisions about joining NATO.
The Hajowyshin Declaration clearly shows that Ukraine remains adamant on the issue of territorial integrity and state sovereignty, while emphasizing the need to obtain security guarantees under international protection mechanisms.
The German Chancellor as an intermediary
Chancellor Merz's telephone conversations with Trump and Zelensky are aimed at discussing both the terms of the peace plan and its acceptability in Europe. The German government emphasizes that any peace agreement must respect Ukraine's sovereignty and take into account the opinion of European countries in order to avoid destabilization of the region.
Berlin also emphasizes that a just peace requires not only negotiations between Washington and Moscow, but also European participation in creating security mechanisms and guarantees for Ukraine. Thanks to this, a possible agreement could gain international legitimacy and minimize the risk of further escalation of the conflict in the region.
