Krasnoyarsk pensioners mastered a smartphone thanks to a training course / Society news of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

From October to November 2025, Rostelecom conducted a free offline course “Basics of using a smartphone” in Krasnoyarsk for representatives of the older generation.

The event took place within the framework of the social project “ABC of the Internet”, which the provider is implementing jointly with the Social Fund of Russia (SFR).

Company specialists and volunteers – students of the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical College – trained more than 20 people in digital literacy. In five two-hour classes, they learned basic skills in working with a smartphone: for example, how to customize the device to suit their needs, use geographic information applications, and communicate safely in instant messengers and social networks.

The training was carried out according to a program developed by specialists from Rostelecom and SFR. At the end of the course, all participants received a gift – a printed publication to consolidate the acquired knowledge.

“For older people, mastering digital technologies is not the easiest task, but it is very important. Our classes on “The ABCs of the Internet” helped make this process easier and clearer. We explained everything in the most accessible language, using schematic images for clarity. And the volunteers personally showed everyone what and how to set up in a smartphone,” noted Andrey Kuznetsov, head of the operation center of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Rostelecom.

Vera Aksenova, project volunteer, student at Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical College No. 2: “I’m glad that my knowledge helped the course participants. This experience will be a valuable resource in my future professional activities as a social worker.”

Galina Figura, project participant: “I liked that we were given action algorithms to solve specific problems – for example, how to change the tariff on a mobile phone, connect or disconnect services, safely save bank card data. The atmosphere in the classes is very friendly. If such events continue, I will definitely participate in them.”
