In Krasnoyarsk, a court sentenced a 41-year-old driver who injured two pedestrians, the regional prosecutor's office reported.
The accident occurred in January 2024. A drunk driver driving a Toyota RAV-4 was moving along Metallurgov Avenue and stopped at the intersection of the street. August 3. When the traffic light turned green, allowing a left turn, the driver drove straight, lost control, sharply turned the steering wheel and drove onto the sidewalk, where he hit two women. One of the victims was taken to hospital with severe head and shoulder injuries.
After the accident, the driver refused to undergo examination and also to go to a drug treatment clinic. The man admitted partial guilt, explaining that he was very overworked, but sober. According to him, he dozed off and allowed the car to move spontaneously, so he does not remember the moment of hitting the pedestrians.
“He tried to make amends for the harm caused to the woman’s health and paid her 100 thousand rubles. for compensation for moral damage. The court found the man guilty of violating traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the infliction of grievous harm to human health (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him to 3 years in a penal colony with deprivation of the right to drive transport for 2.5 years,” the press service of the supervisory agency said.
The prosecutor's office also clarified that the convict's car was confiscated to the state.
