Scientists have found a recipe for longevity: these “signs” show that a person will live to a ripe old age

Longevity often seems like a mystery, but researchers assure that only a quarter of it depends on genes, and the rest is determined by our habits and lifestyle.

A number of studies have found that those who live longer than average have several common characteristics.

1. Women live longer

Estrogen protects cells from inflammation, helps the immune system and slows down aging. Scientists call it a “biological shield.”

2. Youthful appearance

The way a face looks is related to the length of telomeres, markers of biological age. People with “youthful” features tend to live longer.

3. Little animal protein

The diet of centenarians is usually light: less meat means less inflammation and slower cell aging.

4. Normal hemoglobin

Excess iron accelerates aging, and its deficiency reduces endurance. Balance is important.

5. Healthy gut

The microflora of centenarians is strong and diverse. It reduces inflammation and strengthens the immune system.

6. Minimum excess weight

The absence of visceral fat is especially important. It is directly related to the risk of early death.

7. Optimism

Cheerful people live 10–15 years longer. They experience stress more easily and recover faster.

8. Daily activity

Walking, gardening, swimming – any moderate exercise slows down biological aging.

9. Mental work

People who read, learn and develop keep their brains in good shape and live longer.

10. Social connections

Loneliness shortens life. A few close people are enough for the body to work more stably.

All these signs are the result of daily healthy habits. Be more attentive to yourself, increase your mobility, eat lightly and maintain warm relationships. This will create a basic and reliable path to a long life.

Important: This information is not a substitute for consulting a doctor. The body's response to changes in diet/training may depend on individual physiology, genetic predisposition and health status. It is recommended to consult a specialist.
