A doctor from Craiova allegedly forced a vulnerable woman to clean for him and other members of his family


A doctor from Craiova is being investigated by DIICOT prosecutors for human trafficking, being accused of forcing a vulnerable woman to clean his home, but also other members of his family or locations where various events were to take place.

A doctor from Craiova came to the attention of DIICOT prosecutors and is suspected of exploiting a woman in a vulnerable situation through work. According to the investigators, he allegedly forced the woman to clean both his own home and the homes of his family members. Also, the victim would have been asked to clean spaces where various events were to be organized.
On Wednesday, the policemen of the Craiova Organized Crime Brigade, together with DIICOT prosecutors – Craiova Territorial Service, conducted two house searches in the framework of the case opened for human trafficking.
According to a statement sent by DIICOT, the woman, in a difficult situation from a financial point of view, but also from a health point of view, was taken by the doctor to his home and then became a housekeeper not only for him, but also for other members of his family, without being paid for her services.
“Today, November 19, 2025, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service Craiova, together with policemen from the Organized Crime Brigade Craiova, implemented 2 home search warrants, in a case regarding the commission of the crime of human trafficking.
From the criminal prosecution documents, it emerged that, in September 2023, a suspect, in the exercise of his duties and taking advantage of a victim's state of vulnerability (health and family problems), recruited and sheltered her for the purpose of labor exploitation”.
