Kukula made the statement in response to a question about the series of cyber attacks and acts of sabotage that took place in Poland.
According to the general, the enemy is trying to undermine public trust in the government, army and police in Poland in order to create favorable conditions for “potential aggression on Polish territory.”
The Chief of the Polish General Staff compared the current situation with what happened in 1939 (that year, the Second World War began with the Nazi invasion of Poland) and said that “the most important thing today” is the reaction to what is happening.
Kukula said that Poland is not defenseless and is capable of reacting “symmetrically or asymmetrically,” and the only question is the decision to use one of the response options.
The general was asked to comment on the sabotage on the Warsaw-Lublin railway line. Kukula expressed the opinion that we are talking about a hybrid war.
He named the Russian Federation as a “potential aggressor”, noting that “any attack on NATO countries” or the territory of Poland will be associated with a “decisive response and great risk” for such an aggressor.
