The Minister of Education, Daniel David, had a first reaction after the “serious case of violence” in the Nicolae Bălcescu High School in Cluj-Napoca, where a student was beaten by his colleagues, and “requested an analysis of the way of response from the educational unit and the local educational authorities, and decisions will be made accordingly”, the ministry informs in a statement sent on Sunday.

“Starting from the serious case of violence recorded at the “Nicoale Bălcescu” Theoretical High School in Cluj-Napoca, which was recently also reported in the public space, the Minister of Education and Research, Daniel David, requested an analysis of the way of response from the educational unit and the local educational authorities, with decisions to be made accordingly,” the Ministry of Education said, on Sunday, in a press release.

The Minister of Education recalled “his position towards violence in the educational space, as well as the tools made available by the ministry, the anti-violence themes requested for the “Different Week” Program, the introduction of the “red button” and anonymous reports, reaffirming, at the same time, his openness to improving them according to the feedback received from the system and society”, the ministry's press release also states.

A 6-year-old student, from “Nicolae Bălcescu” High School, was beaten by his classmates, and they broke his finger after catching it in a closet door. The child's finger was amputated after this incident, according to information published by the local press and quoted by Agerpres, and the Cluj police opened an investigation.
