A new official photograph to celebrate the 77th birthday of King Charles III was released on Friday. In this new photo, taken at Sandringham, where the color green predominates, the sovereign appears with an unusual accessory: a cane.

Although it is not the first time we see Charles with a cane, it is the first official photo with such an accessory, writes News.ro.

This anniversary, marked by volleys of cannon fired from London's Green Park, took place in a complicated context for Charles. The fallout from the Andrew case, which Charles stripped of his titles in early November, is likely far from over. They have a devastating effect on the monarchy. The new revelations about the links of the king's younger brother with the pedocriminal financier Jeffrey Epstein prompted the sovereign to act.

Andrew, deprived of his titles of Duke of York, but also of Prince, is now called Mountbatten-Windsor. He also has to leave the luxurious Royal Lodge residence in Windsor, where he has lived since the early 2000s.

In addition, the king is still suffering from cancer, and lately his son, Prince William, has been very present in the foreground. Last week, he attended a summit of world leaders in Brazil ahead of the COP30 climate conference.

King Charles spent his birthday in South Wales with Queen Camilla. Although the event was celebrated in private, the king was treated to a cake at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil, where a reception was held.

King Charles is only three years into his reign, but he is already one of the oldest sovereigns Britain has known, as BBC News points out. The official anniversary of the British monarch, “The king's birthday” or “Trooping the colour”, is celebrated, regardless of his actual date of birth, at the beginning of June and marked by a military parade in London.
