The rains of Monday have brought in Bucharest record water, announces the APANOVA operator, which specifies that the amounts of rainfall exceeding 43 liters per square meter were recorded, isolated exceeding 70 l/sqm, and in some areas there were peaks of over 120 l/sqm, after which the floods were recorded.

“During this interval, a pluvial event was registered that exceeded, from the point of view of the frequency of appearance, the frequency every 100 years,” it is stated in a press release of Apa Nova, transmitted by Agerpres.

ANM issued a meteorological warning of orange code that was valid for the municipality of Bucharest between 15:28 – 16:20.

“The company Apa Nova, the water and sewerage service provider for the municipality of Bucharest, has supplemented to the maximum the operational teams from the field, intervening promptly with 20 hydrocuritors, 62 vehicles, 47 pumping equipment and a number of 318 specialists”, the quoted press release said.

Several streets have been flooded in the last hours, and the people of Bucharest have received a powerful red message, electric discharges and wind gusts.

The subway station Piata Unirii 2 was flooded, and several surface transport lines have been temporarily affected in several areas due to floods and fallen trees.

In the anti -aircraft area, a fallen tree on the contact network partially blocked the circulation of the trolleybus 96. At Cet Sud Vitan, the water accumulations temporarily affected lines 123 and 135, and in the Carpathian Mountains neighborhood, a fallen tree blocked routes 6434 and 227, the ADP teams being on the spot at the time of this news.

The storm also caused damage to the Sun Plaza shopping center in the Berceni neighborhood, where the water entered the ceiling.

Until 19:00, over 800 requests were registered by calling the unique emergency number 112 as a result of weather phenomena, ISU Bucharest-Ilfov said.
