Romania's “enemy” needs 6-0 to qualify for the World Cup! Otherwise, they could play against us in the play-off FINAL

State representative Kosovonational against which when Romania played and the scandal appeared, has the chance to qualify directly for the World Championship in 2026, after winning away to Slovenia on Saturday, score 2-0.
In Group B, Kosovo are currently in second place with 10 points, three behind leaders Switzerland, who have 13, who beat Sweden 4-1 on Saturday.
Mathematically, Kosovo could still win the group and it is only in their hands to do so, but the scenario for such a thing to happen is a science fiction one!
Kosovo goes to the World Cup if they win 6-0 in the final stage
The reason? Kosovo has a match in the last stage even against Switzerland, at home, on Tuesday evening, but a simple success is not enough, because in the case of equal points, the second tiebreaker criterion, goal difference, comes into play, where the Kosovars are worse off and only with a victory on the score they could move to the 1st place.
Specifically, to get out of the playoffs and go straight to the World Cup, Kosovo has to prevail with a SIX goal difference in front of Switzerland, a result that is hard to believe could happen.
If he fails to do that, Kosovo will surely go to the play-off, from the position of occupying the second place in the group. As the situation looks now, Kosovo would be in the draw on Thursday for the play-off matches in the third urn, so they would have to play away from home in the semi-final leg.
It would not be excluded that, if both Kosovo and Romania, who will have an opponent from the first urn in the semifinals, qualify for the final of the pool, the two national teams will duel on March 31 for a place in the final tournament next year.
How the ballot boxes look now:
-
Urn 1: Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland
-
Urn 2: Hungary, Scotland, Czech Republic, Slovakia
-
Urn 3: Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
-
Urn 4: Wales, Sweden, Romania, Northern Ireland
Romania goes to the play-offs and will play the semi-final away
The Tricolors missed a huge chance to go into the books for second place and are certain to finish third in this group, where Austria and Bosnia will battle it out for top spot.
At this moment, the most likely opponents for Romania, who come from ballot box 1, are Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and Poland. The scenario is not one nailed down, the scenarios can change in the last round of preliminaries. The chances are very small for the appearance of surprises. Romania will surely play away!
On Thursday, from 14:00 Romanian time, liveTEXT on GSP.ro, Lucescu's “tricolors” will know exactly who they will play in the play-off in March, for a ticket to the North American World Cup.
