MEP Diana Şoșoacă, shoulder to shoulder with Dimitri Medvedev, who frequently threatened the European Union, NATO and Romania

The President of SOS Romania and MEP Diana Iovanovici-Şoșoacă is currently in Sochi, Russia, where she is participating in the BRICS – Europe Congress.
According to a press release of the political formation announcing his visit, Șoșoacă is described as “the active voice of Romania in the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy”.
The MEP also published pictures of her participation in the BRICS – Europe Congress, adding that “for the first time, Romania has a representative”.
According to SOS Romania, Șoșoacă participated with the representatives of several states in a limited high-level meeting chaired by Dmitri Medvedev, the vice-president of the Security Council.
“The discussions focused on the analysis of the main ongoing conflicts at the global level, not only military, but also social, economic and moral. The debates aimed to identify possible solutions, through dialogue, political responsibility and parliamentary diplomacy. Pierre de Gaulle, the nephew of the French general Charles de Gaulle, was also present at the meeting,” the party said.
His speech was highly praised by Medvedev, who called it “brilliant”.
“In his intervention, MEP Diana Iovanovici-Şoșoacă emphasized the need to change the diplomatic paradigm, advocating for behavior based on normality, respect, real rules and principles of diplomacy and political education. The MEP stressed the idea that firm actions are needed, not just formal diplomatic formulas, when people's fundamental rights are violated”, SOS Romania representatives said.
According to the quoted source, “in a gesture of respect and appreciation” Medvedev stood next to Diana Sosoacă in the official photo, this being “a remarkable gesture”.
Previously, Sosoacă also met with the president of the Committee for International Affairs in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Leonid Slutki.
Dmitry Medvedev is known for his bellicose statements, threatening several times, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, both NATO, the European Union and Romania.
Also, Russia opposes the accession of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
