The region's administrator, Col. Alain Kiwewa, told The Associated Press that women were among those brutally murdered.
The rebels attacked the health center on the night from Friday to Saturday, leaving behind dead bodies and several dozen burned buildings.

They took all the medicines and medical equipment from the hospital and moved on to other villages, where more victims were found on Saturday morning. Many people fled to the bush, where they spent the night despite heavy rain.
The Allied Democratic Forces were established in the late 1990s in Uganda, but after the group suffered severe defeats in clashes with the country's army, most of the fighters fled to the neighboring DRC. In 2009, they pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS).
They currently operate along the border with Uganda and frequently attack civilians. In July, they killed about 40 people staying in a church in Ituri province. A month later, at least 52 people died at their hands in the towns of Beni and Lubero in the eastern part of the country.
According to calculations by the British radio station BBC, which analyzed messages from 25 Congolese radio stations, from March to August last year, ADF terrorists murdered over 700 people in North Kivu province, where the attacked hospital is also located.
