The USA is sending a new ambassador to Romania: Darryl Nirenberg has over 40 years of experience in public policy and international relations
The United States of America will have a new ambassador in Bucharest. Darryl Nirenberg, a Republican with a solid career in legislation, public policy and international relations, will take over the position of US ambassador to Romania, the US Senate has officially announced.

“Mr. Darryl Nirenberg, from Virginia, will be appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Romania”, it is stated in the announcement sent by the Senate.
Nirenberg is considered one of the most effective public policy specialists in Washington, with a remarkable track record in supporting major legislative initiatives. His appointment was anticipated since the beginning of the year, when Donald Trump wrote about him:
“I am pleased to announce that Darryl Nirenberg will be the next United States Ambassador to Romania. Darryl has 40 years of experience in foreign policy, including as counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.”
Trump's announcement came shortly after the US Embassy in Bucharest confirmed the withdrawal of Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec.
In his message, Trump also emphasized the role that Nirenberg will have in the bilateral relationship:
“It will help us strengthen our ties with Romania, support our military partnership, and advance America's economic and security interests abroad. Congratulations, Darryl!”
